29/1/24 – Week 17

Day 1 – Head

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Today Kieran explores a piece of scripture from Exodus. this book is from the Old Testament and is all about how Moses leads the enslaved Israelites out from Egypt and fulfilling God Promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God then created a theocratic nation (Priests lead in the name of God) under Moses on Mount Sinai.

We thank all those who lead us in our lives and give thanks to God as we say together:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 2 – Heart

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Yesterday we looked at a passage from the book of Exodus. Throughout the bible God calls many people to lead others and to be those who people should look up to such as David, Paul, Elijah and Peter.

Throughout our lives we will have leaders who we look up to these may be our teachers, friends or family. To be a good leader we must have certain qualities like being a good listener, a good decision maker and someone who is able to inspire others to be their best.

Sometimes in our lives we are asked to do things we may think are too hard or difficult and it takes courage to do the things we are asked. Like with Moses God knows all of our skills and talents, He knows our limits and what we can do and not do. Sometimes we may question what is being asked of us for not only other but also God.

Discuss with the person next to you when has there been a time you thought you couldn’t do something but when you started you realised you could do that thing very well. Please comment below what this was!!

We now ask God to continue to inspire and have trust in us to be the best we can be. We ask this as we say together:

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 3 – Hands

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

We are going to start of by watching a clip from the film the Prince of Egypt. This clips shows what happens after Moses accepts Gods call and yet the Pharaoh rejects him.

This week we have been looking at Leaders and how sometimes we are called to overcome a challenge or something we think is difficult to complete.

Today in your forms we would like you to discuss Who do you think is a good leader? This could be someone local or on the international stage!

Now using those examples discuss what do you feel are the most important qualities of a leader.

Once you as a form have come up with the three most important words please use the Google form below to tell us what you have chosen. We are then going to use these words to create a piece of artwork.

In our faith we have many great leaders but someone who rose to the challenge that God set for her was Mary. We now ask Mary to bring us closer to God and help give us the courage to accept Gods challenge for us as we say:

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

  • Speaking in a different language, Achieving a high score on a test, Stepping up to become form rep, these were challenges that our form had and overcame.

  • During Hagg Farm we all had to rock hop through small gaps and we didn’t think we could do it but we gave it a go and we were all able to through.
