25/03/24 – Week 24

Day 1 – Head

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

This week marks the start of the most important time for the church. This week started on Sunday with palm Sunday with the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem and leads to Maundy Thursday , the betrayal of Christ, Good Friday, the death and suffering of Christ, Holy Saturday, when no Mass or any liturgical prayers are celebrated and Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Christ.

This week in our prayer time we are going to be looking at the Passion of Christ.

We begin with a video showing us the events leading up to Jesus’ death

This week we keep in our hearts all those who are suffering around the world.

We finish by asking the Lord to keep us all say as we say:

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 2 – Heart

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

To begin our time of prayer today we are going to recall the scripture from the video we watched yesterday.

  1. Which prophet was Jesus quoting when he was in the temple?
  2. What did Jesus say to Pilate after Pilate said “Are you the King of The Jews?”
  3. Who was the person who got released instead of Jesus?

Now the day Jesus died is known as Good Friday but for such a traumatic day to be called seems very odd.

Our words can have so much meaning. This is the same for Good Friday and the Passion of Christ as how can such a horrible time be titled with such a positive word.

The word Passion means strong and barely controllable emotion. or the suffering and death of Jesus.

The use of the word passion shows that the act of Jesus dying on the cross was the ultimate act of love for us all.

We take this moment to think about times when we have shown compassion to others and have had compassion shown to us.

We ask Mary our mother who shows her love for us all to watch over us as we say:

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 3 – Hands

  • The video was inspiring because it shows we should do thing for other people just as Jesus did all of that for us.

  • As we enter Easter, we need to remember how Jesus saved us from evil and sin.
We also spoke about how Jesus accepted his death and did not argue against it.

  • Ryan thinks the video was very eye-opening and thought provoking. Together as a group we think the video was very inspirational.
