Young people have a vital role to play in the life of the Church and in the
world. They offer hope, inspiration and courage. The Church needs young
people’s voices, involvement, and leadership to help us grow and we are all
called to be young in our outlook and our attitude so we can live life to the
full.
We pray for the young people gathered together as part of the OLoL Trust Synod on Tuesday this week.
Day 1 – Head
On the first day of our prayer we will be reflecting on The Word of God to help us to understand our theme.
We begin our prayer this morning with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Having less life experience has never stopped God from calling upon young people to serve Him and this week’s scripture reminds us that God is always by our side.
A reading from the prophet Jeremiah
4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
declares the Lord.”
The Word of the Lord
Thanks be to God.
Jeremiah 1: 4-8 ESV
We may not know what the future holds for each of us but God knew before we were even created.
Think about what you feel called to do – does that calling start now, today?
Do you have any doubts or concerns? What do you think God would say to you if you were discussing your calling?
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Day 2 – Heart
On the second day of the week we focus on our hearts. How can the scripture that we looked at yesterday impact our lives, and the lives of others? What themes can we draw from the scripture?
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
The first millennial Saint is due to be canonised next year during the Jubilee year of 2025 – Blessed Carlo Acutis.
Watch the video to see the different ways in which Blessed Carlo lived out his calling from God.
Think about how you are called to holiness and how you could use your gifts, skills and talents to answer that call!
Blessed Carlo Acutis, Pray for us
We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Day 3 – Hands (Feet!)
On the final day of the week we try to put into action the things we have learnt and reflected on previously in the week but today we will be doing this with our feet rather than our hands!
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
As we have heard in our scripture, the prophet Jeremiah was a young person who was sent to use his voice to proclaim the Word of God.
Today we are going to use our feet and our voice to bring us closer to our calling from God.
It is essential in this next activity that everyone is respectful of the views and voices of others, even if they are not the same as your own. Listen carefully to one another and think about how your words might make other people feel!
Using the following statements, discuss whether you agree or disagree. If you agree move to the right hand side of the room and if you disagree move to the left hand side of the room. Discuss your reasons for your answers and think about how this discussion might influence how you put your faith into action as a young person. We’ll start with an easier statement…
- Young people should be allowed to choose what they learn in school.
- Social media creates more love than hate.
- Young people are more influential than older generations.
- Going to Mass makes me a better person.
Let us pray:
God our Father,
You helped the prophet Jeremiah to serve you faithfully, help us to use our voices for your glory and praise so that we can celebrate the dignity of all people.
We make our prayer through Christ, your Son, our Lord,
Amen.
We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Some of the members in our form said they had a calling to science, football, being a vet and chaplaincy work.
We should believe in him as he has a plan. Perhaps he would say be patient, for good things come to those who wait.
Hi my name is 7EHA.We are the best form ever.
The reflection was brilliant.
The students listened carefully.
The readers were the best.
We can pray everyday, we can go to mass, we could also help the people who need it but don’t brag about.
Carlo Acutis was inspirational person
Carlo Acutis demonstrated that age is not a limit to praise God
Carlo Acutis always wanted to help people because of his warm heart
