Belonging is a feeling of being accepted and valued. When we belong to a community, we know that we are not alone. Belonging is about being part of something bigger than ourselves, making a positive contribution and loving and supporting others.
FEAST DAY ALERT

Day 1 – Head
On the first day of our prayer we will be reflecting on The Word of God to help us to understand our theme.
We begin our prayer this morning with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

What does it mean to belong? St Paul encourages us to live in harmony with one another, united in Christ, so that together we can glorify God. In other words, we are not meant to walk this journey of faith alone.
True belonging is not about fitting in by changing who we are. Instead, it is about being welcomed and valued for who we truly are—just as Jesus welcomes each of us.
Please take a moment of silence to thank God for all the times you have been welcomed, for all the places you feel you belong.
Together let us pray for those who do not feel they belong anywhere, or who have never been welcomed.
O Lord,
we lift up those who feel lost and alone, who have never known the warmth of welcome or the comfort of belonging.
May Your love surround them, reminding them that they are cherished and valued.
Help them to find their place in this world, where they can feel accepted and loved for who they are.
Guide them to communities that embrace them with open arms and fill their hearts with hope and courage.
Amen
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Day 2 – Heart
On the second day of the week we focus on our hearts. How can the scripture that we looked at previously impact our lives, and the lives of others? What themes can we draw from the scripture?
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Imagine walking into a room where no one speaks to you, no one smiles, and no one makes space for you. How would that feel?

Now imagine walking into a place where you are greeted warmly, given a seat, and invited into conversation. That small act of welcome changes everything.
Jesus always welcomed people, especially those who felt excluded or unimportant. He welcomed the Samaritan woman at the well, He ate with tax collectors, and He healed those who were outcasts. He shows us that true belonging is about love, not status.
St Paul tells us to “welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you.” This means that belonging is not just something we receive—it is something we give. When we welcome others into our friendship groups, conversations, and lives, we reflect Jesus’ love.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on belonging. I’ll ask a few questions—if you like, you can raise your hand or move to one side of the room to show your answer. There’s no pressure, just a chance to think and notice how we all experience belonging in different ways.
💭 Questions for reflection:
- Do you think everyone in your school feels like they belong?
- Have you ever been excluded from belonging to a group?
- Have you ever felt like you truly belonged somewhere?
- Do you find it easy to welcome new people into your group of friends?
- Have you ever avoided someone because they seemed different from you?
- Can you do something today to help someone feel included?
Let us pray:
Loving God,
Thank You for the people who have welcomed us and made us feel we belong.
Help us to do the same—to notice, include, and show Your love to others.
May we welcome as You welcome, so no one feels alone.
Amen.
We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Day 3 – Hands
On the final day of the week we try to put into action the things we have learnt and reflected on previously in the week, hence the hands link!
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Challenge: Be the Welcome Someone Needs
This week, let’s take action to help others feel like they belong.
🤝 Option 1: Sit with or talk to someone new at break or lunch—someone who might not always feel included.
🙏 Option 2: Say a silent prayer today for people who struggle to feel welcome—whether in our school, our church, or the world.
📝 Option 3: Write a note or message to someone who has made you feel welcome, thanking them for their kindness.
🌍 Option 4: Look beyond your own circle of friends—how can you bring someone new into your group?
Final Reflection
When we choose to welcome others, we show the love of Christ. Each person is a gift from God, and our small acts of kindness can make a big difference in helping them feel they belong.
We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

People said they feel belonging in their family, a football club, at Church and at school.
Sometimes it can be easy to exclude someone for being different, even if it’s just a different set of interests. We can all work harder to ensure that everyone in our friendship groups feels equally included.
