A vocation is God’s call to each of us. It is the unique way that God has designed us to serve him and others. Finding our vocation can take time and discernment but our vocation is a reminder that we all have a special purpose in this world, and we are all called to do something significant with our lives.
Day 1 – Head
On the first day of our prayer we will be reflecting on The Word of God to help us to understand our theme.
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Paul reuses his idea of many Members of the same body in a few different letters, as he really wants us to realise that; while we are all different, we do make up one body.
Paul accepts that we are all different, and encourages us to not shy away from our differences. What he really calls us to do is to use our own unique skills and talents for the Glory of God; to use them joyfully and to their fullness.
God has created each and every person for a special purpose, and that purpose is what God calls you to do.
We have the responsibility of choosing whether or not to follow this calling. God does not enforce His will over ours, but invites us into relationship with Him. It is up to us to listen to His calling in your life.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus Christ,
Help us to listen to your calling for us.
May we open our hearts to hear Your voice.
Give us the courage to follow you, in whatever way you ask us to.
Amen.

Day 2 – Heart
On the second day of the week we focus on our hearts. How can the scripture that we looked at previously impact our lives, and the lives of others? What themes can we draw from the scripture?
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
You may know what you want to do with your life.
You may feel certain about where your life is heading.
You may be unsure or anxious about what to do next with your education or your choices.
You may even feel like you don’t have a purpose to your life, or that you are insignificant.
Jesus calls every single person to a specific purpose.
It may not be important in the eyes of the world like a Prime Minister or President.
It may not be influential like a bishop or a Pope.
But whoever you are, and whatever it is you are called to, God has picked you for a very specific reason. While others might not see it as “important”, God does, and he values each and every single person who responds to His calling.

Some are personal stories of people who have responded to God’s calling, some are just talking through Vocations a little more.

If you want to, please do talk to someone about where you feel God is calling you. It could be that you don’t feel God’s calling at all. That is fine and worth sharing. It may be that you feel particularly called to a certain vocation but that you are anxious about it or not sure how to go about starting. Whatever it is, and wherever you are on your journey, please do share it with someone you trust, and we will be able to walk with you in your journey.

Day 3: Hands
On the final day of the week we try to put into action the things we have learnt and reflected on previously in the week, hence the hands link!
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Today, we’d like you to think about your futures.
Either on a piece of paper, or on whiteboards, please write down your “Dream Jobs” in order of preference. You can have as many or as few as you like.

Once written, compare with those around you, and see what others have written.
We would be interested to what you have written, so please do post into the comments the most common job/vocation, and least common, or any particularly interesting ones!
To finish, please take a look at your list, and spend some silent time in prayer, offering up your list to God.
God will be calling you, quite probably to one of the vocations on your list, as He sets His Will upon your heart.
When you are ready, please draw your time of prayer to a close, invoking the intercession of Mary, who was explicitly told her calling by the Angle Gabriel; to be the Mother of Our Saviour

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death
