Gather
Today is an opportunity to make form time feel different and distinct. You could choose to dim the lights to make the space feel different. You are welcome to use this instrumental music to set the reflective tone.
We begin our time together as we invite you to make the Sign of the Cross
R./ In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The opening prayer can be led by anyone, yourself or a volunteer, you could even crate a rota for each week so everyone gets a turn.
Let us pray,
Faithful God,
You don’t make promises you can’t keep.
Help us listen to your Word today with open and trusting hearts.
Amen.
The Word
Every time we come together we’ll explore a different part of God’s story, starting at the beginning and journeying through the year. Again, there is an opportunity for anyone who feels comfortable to read the scripture out loud.
You could then have a period of silence to think about what you’ve heard or discuss what you’ve read as a class.
The Story – Reflection
As we work our way through the year, we will read excerpts from scripture that tell one continuous Story. To help fill in the blanks and provide some context, please read the Chapter from our story below, that should help tie together all our pieces of scripture.
Again, there is an opportunity for anyone who feels comfortable to read the story out loud.
Response
Each week we’ll respond to the scripture in different ways, so play the video below and follow along to explore this chapter of our story.
Closing Prayer
We’ve heard how we can live out our faith today in the video, think about what this might mean for you as we share the closing prayer – again anyone can lead this with the class.
Let us pray,
Faithful God,
You kept your promise to Abraham, even though he never saw it on this earth.
Help us to trust in your promise to us.
Amen.
