Faith Love and Respect

Catherine McAuley Hub Chaplaincy

20/05/24 – Week 30

Day 1 – Head

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Today we hear from Issie who reads and explores our scripture.

We ask for Mary’s support with our speech, conduct, love, faith and purity as we say:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 2 – Heart

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

What can you remember from yesterday’s scripture?

  1. Which book in the Bible was the verse from?
  2. What were the five words that Issie spoke about?
  3. What did Issie say was the one thing she wanted you to take away from listening to her at Trinity?

Today we are going to spend a moment listening to a song. The song is called Reckless Love, and it is about the love that our Father has for us. Reckless means doing something without thinking about the risks, so perhaps it is the wrong word to use to describe God’s love for us. He knows of the risks in loving us, but he chooses to do so anyway. What a love that is! Spend some time listening to the song and praying to God, asking him for support in your life, knowing that he will be there and will love you.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Answers:

  1. Timothy
  2. Speech, conduct, love, faith and purity
  3. Love! Showing love to one another and doing the most loving thing in a situation.

Day 3 – Hands

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

This week we have been thinking about the scripture from Timothy:

Give them these instructions and these teachings. Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

The five words that we explored on the first day were speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. We want you to think about what five things you think we should focus on in our lives as young Catholics. Write them into the comments below with a short explanation about why you have chosen them. Try and be creative!

Spend a moment now in prayer, asking God for his support. We join all our prayers together as we say:

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
