The Rosary is a prayer that we can all use to meditate on the life of Jesus Christ. It is a powerful tool for prayer and spiritual growth through the intercession of Mary our mother. The Rosary can help us to grow in our faith, to deepen our relationship with God, and to find peace and comfort in difficult times.
We invite everyone in our school community to lead parts of our prayer throughout the week and staff are encouraged to award achievements points for this!
Day 1 – Head
On the first day of our prayer we will be reflecting on The Word of God to help us to understand our theme.
We begin our prayer this morning with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Our Scripture this week is from John’s Gospel from the story of Jesus’ crucifixion. After Jesus had been nailed to the cross and the soldiers had cast lots for His clothes, there were very few people who stayed by His side when He died but Mary His mother was one of them:

As a prayer of intercession, the rosary reminds us that Mary is always with us. This is most obvious during the final moments of Jesus’ life. Where most of His followers and friends had left Him, Mary stayed. Regardless of the pain, the sadness, the hopelessness she felt she remained by His side from the very beginning, until the very end. When we pray the rosary we are reminded that Mary is with us through everything.
Talk to the person next to you about who is always present for you in your life – your family/ friends/ classmates.

Day 2 – Heart
On the second day of the week we focus on our hearts. How can the scripture that we looked at yesterday impact our lives, and the lives of others? What themes can we draw from the scripture?
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Although the repeated Hail Mary prayer is addressed directly to Mary, it is to Jesus that the act of love is ultimately directed, with her and through her.

The Hail Mary prayer is the heart of the Rosary. We pray 10 Hail Mary’s within each of the five decades – totalling 50 Hail Mary prayers at the end of your devotion. This prayer, in which we ask Mary for her intercession, is also rooted in Scripture. The first two lines come from the first chapter of Luke, when the Angel Gabriel announces Christ’s coming at the Annunciation and when Mary’s cousin, Elizabeth, greets Mary at the Visitation.
As we heard in yesterday’s scripture, Mary hold us in her heart and places our cares as her own.

Day 3 – Hands
On the final day of the week we try to put into action the things we have learnt and reflected on previously in the week, hence the hands link!

Today our prayer is led by The Redeemed. We have the opportunity to pray a decade of the rosary – we can continue this prayer throughout the week and weekend!

We discussed who is always present for us in our lives:
– Mum, whenever I want to speak to her she is there

– Brother, talks to me a lot
– Friends, they can always make you feel better

We decided that our parents are always with us. as well as this, we have decided that our siblings are always with us even if sometimes they can hurt you.
