Having Faith can be hard. It requires us to believe in those things we can’t prove and see. St. Thomas is famous for not believing that Jesus had risen, but this reminds us all that even for Jesus’ disciples, faith wasn’t always easy. Faith is a gift from God and if we can find it, and hold on to it, faith gives us strength comfort, and hope.
Day 1 – Head
On the first day of our prayer we will be reflecting on The Word of God to help us to understand our theme.
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Reflection
James tells us something surprising: when we face hard times, we should actually see them as a good thing. Why? Because tough moments help us grow stronger in our faith. When we stay patient and trust God during trials, we become more mature and complete as people.
James also reminds us that when we don’t know what to do, we should ask God for wisdom. God loves to help us and won’t be upset with us for asking. But James warns us to trust God fully, not going back and forth in doubt.
In short: Life is full of challenges, but with God’s help, they can shape us for good. We can always trust God’s wisdom, goodness, and love.
Lets us Pray:
Dear God,
Thank You for being with me through every trial and challenge.
When life is hard, help me to trust You more, not less.
Grow my faith so that I can stand strong, even when I don’t understand what is happening.
Give me Your wisdom when I feel lost or unsure.
Teach me to rely on You, not on the things of this world that quickly fade away.
Thank You that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and that You never change.
Help me to stay faithful, to endure with hope, and to believe in Your promises.
Shape me into the person You want me to be.
I put my faith in You, today and always.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Day 2 – Heart
On the second day of the week we focus on our hearts. How can the scripture that we looked at previously impact our lives, and the lives of others? What themes can we draw from the scripture?
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Reflection: How Faith Shapes Our Lives
Faith is not just a belief we hold quietly in our hearts — it is something that deeply shapes how we live, how we see the world, and how we face each day. In James 1:2–8, we see that faith isn’t about having an easy life without struggles. Instead, real faith shows itself when life is hard.
For some people, faith gives strength — the ability to keep going even when everything feels like it’s falling apart. James says that the testing of our faith produces perseverance, and that perseverance helps us grow into the people God wants us to be. Faith turns trials into opportunities for growth, not defeat.
For others, faith brings wisdom. When we don’t know what to do — when we’re confused, hurting, or afraid — faith leads us to ask God for help. James promises that God gives wisdom freely to those who seek Him. Faith teaches us that we don’t have to have all the answers; we just need to trust the One who does.
Faith will touch each of us differently:
- It might give you quiet strength.
- It might give you clarity in confusion.
- It might humble you or lift you up when you feel small.
- It might give you a peace that doesn’t make sense in the middle of pain.
No matter how it comes, true faith always draws us closer to God — the one who gives every good and perfect gift, who never changes, and who loves us completely.
Let us pray:
Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of faith that You have planted in our hearts.
Thank You for the strength You give us to keep going when life is hard.
When we face trials, You are our steady hand.
When we feel weak, You are our strength.
When we are lost, You are our guide.
Thank You for growing patience and perseverance in us, even when the journey is difficult.
Thank You for the wisdom You freely give when we ask.
We are grateful that, through faith, we are becoming more like You — stronger, wiser, and more full of love.
Help us to keep trusting You each day, knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from You.
We praise You for Your faithfulness, Your goodness, and Your endless love.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Day 3: Hands
On the final day of the week we try to put into action the things we have learnt and reflected on previously in the week, hence the hands link!
We begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Today we’re thinking about how faith helps us when life is hard. Faith isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting even when we don’t know what’s next. Let’s build a wall of faith together, using our ideas and experiences.”
Group Brainstorm: “What Faith Means”
- On the Whiteboard draw a rough drawing of a brick wall. (The bricks need to be big enough to write on)
- Everyone needs to think of a word that comes to mind when they think about their Faith.
- Write each word on the brick wall
Examples: trust, hope, patience, strength, love, prayer, perseverance, etc.
Once each person has given a word have a discussion around some of the words put forward below is an example of the ideas that can be used for discussion:
- “Why do you think this word is important for faith?”
- “When have you seen someone show faith like this?” (it can be personal or something they’ve seen in others)
Faith isn’t something we have to build alone. Just like this wall is made of many bricks, our faith grows stronger when we support each other, especially during tough times.
Let us pray:
Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of faith.
Help us to build each other up and trust you more each day.
Help us grow deeper in faith with the support of others around us.
Please help our faith to lead us to make good decisions.
Amen.
