Chapter 23: Night Falls

Gather

Today is an opportunity to make form time feel different and distinct. You could choose to dim the lights to make the space feel different. While in Lent we won’t provide instrumental music, but if you would prefer, you can find your own.

We begin our time together as we invite you to make the Sign of the Cross

R./ In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The opening prayer can be led by anyone, yourself or a volunteer, you could even crate a rota for each week so everyone gets a turn.

Let us pray,
Lord Jesus Christ,
You suffered betrayal for our sake
Help us listen to your Word today, so that we may know the pain betrayal causes, and help us strive to never betray another
We ask this in your name.
Amen.

The Word

Every time we come together we’ll explore a different part of God’s story, starting at the beginning and journeying through the year. Again, there is an opportunity for anyone who feels comfortable to read the scripture (image on the left) out loud.

You could then have a period of silence to think about what you’ve heard or discuss what you’ve read as a class.

You did not accuse your betrayer even though you knew who it was
Help us to forgive those who hurt us, even when it is hard
We ask this in your name.
Amen.
