6/05/2024 – Week 28

Day 1 – Head

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Today we are going to hear a piece of scripture from Matthew’s Gospel, and reflect on the richness within ourselves.

We take a moment to reflect, and when we are ready, we pray together:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 2 – Heart

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Yesterday we heard a piece of scripture…what can you remember? Don’t cheat by looking past the questions!

  1. What book of the Bible was the passage from?
  2. What did it say will always be in our hearts?
  3. What did Issie say that people normally look for in life?

A part of scripture that we heard is below, and it was from Matthew’s Gospel. There are lots of people around the world who are not rich in money, but would consider themselves rich of heart because they are full of compassion and love. We are going to pray some bidding prayers that are below the scripture now, perhaps you could have a few students reading a prayer each with a pause in-between each one.

“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.

Matthew 6:19-21 GNT

For those who cannot feel the light of Christ, we ask that they encounter God through others even when they don’t realise it, and that one day they come to recognise Him and his works. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who are rich in power but not in heart, we ask that they use their power and wealth to help those who are less fortunate. Please guide them to make wise choices that will benefit their communities. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who are rich in heart, we thank God for blessing them. Help them to share their goodness with others, and to

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Day 3 – Hands

We begin our prayer today with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.

Today we are going to think about how we can spread the riches of earth with each other to build up our riches in heaven.

In school we do allot to help out those around us and across the world through our works with various different charities. We do this as we are in a position to help support those in need.

Think about what you have done or what you are planning to do for your charity.

What will the money you raise do to help others ?

How can we continue to support our charities in other ways ?

How can supporting charities provide us with riches in heaven ?

Discuss these points in pairs and feedback to the form.

We thank God for giving us the courage to share our riches and ask him to continue to give us that courage as we say together:

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We end our prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

  • The money that is raised can be given to charities to help those in need, we can give the money to the poor. We can also give food to food banks. We also learn that as we give our riches to people in need, our riches build up in heaven.

  • We can give others our company, which, in tern, may lead to happiness for them. Money can’t lead us on our journey with Jesus, but our own mindset and the support of our families and friends can. By showing others our gifts and talents we can show our true selves.
