Gather
Today is an opportunity to make form time feel different and distinct. You could use this song, recorded by The choir and Mr Durnell to create an atmosphere in the room before the students come in. You could also use other instrumental music if you would prefer.
We begin our time together as we invite you to make the Sign of the Cross
R./ In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The opening prayer can be led by anyone, yourself or a volunteer, you could even crate a rota for each week so everyone gets a turn.
Dear Lord,
At the start of this new year, and as we hear the start of the Bible, we ask you to give us courage and strength to begin afresh.
Dwell within us this year to help us strive to be more like you in all we do.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God.
Amen
The Word
Every time we come together we’ll explore a different part of God’s story, starting at the beginning and journeying through the year. Again, there is an opportunity for anyone who feels comfortable to read the scripture (image on the left) out loud.
You could then have a period of silence to think about what you’ve heard or discuss what you’ve read as a class.
After this, please use the suggested “Story” (Image on the right) to retell and reflect on the scripture, again anyone can read this out.

Response
Each week we’ll respond to the scripture in different ways – this week we’re going to get a bit creative so play the video below and follow along to explore this chapter of our story.
Mission
We’ve heard how we can live out our faith today in the video, think about what this might mean for you as we share the closing prayer – again anyone can lead this with the class.
Let us pray.
Loving Creator,
thank You for the gift of light, and for the gift of life.
Thank You for calling us to shine our light—
to bring truth, beauty, and goodness into the world.
As we carry our stars today, remind us that we are part of Your good creation,
and that Your light shines in us and through us.
Help us to care for the world You made, and to bring joy to those around us.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
We end our time of prayer together, by inviting you all again, to make the sign of the cross.
R./ In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
